HORSEBACK RIDING

All of our ride options insure that you will experience the true splendor of the Rocky Mountains. Our string of trail horses know what they're doing in these hills and our trails are some of the best around.

Enjoy Colorado's Best horseback riding. Mount up and ride out with us into the forest and through the aspens and pines on your way up to ridge tops at 8500-foot elevations. The views of the Routt National Forest, the Mount Zirkel Wilderness, and the Elk River below are awesome and inspiring. Our professional wranglers will guide you along and help you spot the wildlife that calls these mountains home. Commonly seen are elk, deer, fox, coyote, and eagles. On rare occasions you may get to see bear, mountain lion and moose.

If you want to get out into some wild and pristine country, or if you've done it before and you just can't get enough, come join us for a trail ride. We think horseback is one of the best ways to experience the natural beauty of this amazing place. We offer a variety of rides and can accommodate all skill levels. Horseback riding is offered from May through October, as long as Mother Nature Cooperates.

Riders must be at least 8 years old to go a trail ride. No double riders aloud.

Recommended attire:

Long Pants, long sleeve shirt, and cowboy boots.

Ride options and rates:

1 hour ride:    $45.00    10:30-11:30    2:30-3:30 -
Ride through flower studded meadows into an aspen grove passing the Sioux Tepees along the hills overlooking the Elk River and the Continental Divide. This is a great ride for children and those who don't have enough time to enjoy longer rides.

2 hour ride:    $65.00    10:00-12:00    2:00-4:00 -
Ride through a flower studded hillside overlooking the Elk River. Meander up the mountain through aspens and pines to Outlook Point for a spectacular view of the valley, Continental Divide and Mount Zirkel Wilderness Area. Look back through a giant Aspen grove along a lush streambed that nourishes prolific beds of Columbine and other wild flowers. This is a ride that everyone should do at least once every summer! Cameras are a must. It is absolutely fabulous and fun for both novices and expert riders.

Daily Double:

Wagon Dinner Rides:    Friday and Saturday Night.
Enjoy a wagon ride in the midst of a mountain paradise destined for a magical place to relax and eat by the campfire. Start off the evening with appetizers in Papa Ed's Saloon followed by a fun wagon ride down seed house road along the Elk River then back through the ranch to a roaring fire and enjoy a delicious dinner.

Cowgirl Camps Available:    Watch for Dates.

Prices will include:
cabin, schooling, lunch and transportation from Hayden Airport or Steamboat Springs.

Our camps consist of 4 days on the ranch. You'll learn all about the cowboy's gear. How to care for your horse, saddle your horse, and learn how to ride with the best of them.

It's a fast paced, no nonsense camp. We will teach you all we can about horseback riding. Your instructor has 40 years experience in the saddle and has been though 7 horse training and horse physiology schools. This will be not only an educational experience but a fun filled experience as well.

These are adult camps only.

You'll be assigned a cabin with other camp participants and a horse upon arrival.
